Time for the Interview!
- Make
the interviewer feel comfortable by being friendly and relaxed yourself.
Are you both sitting in a comfortable place?
- Check
ahead that the place you will be doing the interview will be quiet and
free of distractions.
- If you
are writing notes during the interview, look up from time to time so
the interviewee feels you are listening.
- If you
are taping or videotaping the interview, tell the person ahead of time
so they wonít feel shy or uncomfortable. Place the tape recorder near
enough to catch the personís voice, but not so near as to be a distraction.
There are many good books about tips for tape recording a session in
the bibliography.
- At the
beginning of your written notes or on a audio or video tape, list/tell
the name of the interviewer, your name, the date, place of the interview,
and the purpose of the interview.
